Swedish philosopher and professor of aesthetics Sven-Olov Wallenstein confronts the concept of the war machine developed by Deuleuze and Guattari with contemporary notions of virtuosity and emancipation: how can we understand virtuosity as a mode of production that has the potential to challenge or even undermine our social reality?

The Burn, The Bill Switch, The Slit Cut – those are the names of famous conjuring tricks, conjuring tricks involving money. Making coins appear at your fingertips, destroying and restoring notes, making money: conjuring tricks which use money talk about capitalism and about capitalism as a trick in a very special way. Following the lecture performance, the ”Casino of Tricks” will give insights into the trick capital that it has won and gambled away so far.
